The Hawaii State Ethics Commission is offering a training session about the State Lobbyists Law, HRS chapter 97, on March 15, 2016. The State Lobbyists Law, generally, applies to individuals who and organizations that are communicating, directly or through an agent, with state legislators for the purpose of attempting to influence action on bills and other matters before the state legislature. The class will provide a general overview of the State Lobbyists Law, including discussion about lobbyist registration and reporting lobbying expenditures and contributions.

Who should attend this class:
  • Lobbyists;
  • Organizations that hire or employ lobbyists;
  • Organizations that spend money to influence legislative action, state administrative rule-making, or a ballot issue; and
  • Anyone, including employees of a business or organization, who is paid to lobby the legislature or administrative agencies on issues pertaining to legislative action, administrative rule-making, or a ballot issue.
